Who writes Ottawa Play & Stay, and how it decides what to print

What we are not

We are not a casino, a hotel, a booking agent or a marketing partner. We do not take commission on rooms, we do not run affiliate links, we do not sell listings and we do not accept payment for a favourable mention. There is no promotional offer anywhere on this site and there is no code to enter anywhere. If you book a room after reading this guide, you book it with the venue and we never learn about it.

That independence is also why the writing is in the third person throughout. When this site says “the venue publishes”, it means exactly that: somebody else published it and we are reporting it. We never write as though we were the hotel.

Method

Where the facts come from

1. The operator first. Addresses, telephone numbers, room counts, restaurant line-ups and amenity lists are taken from what the venue itself publishes.
2. Regulators for rules. Ages, identification requirements, helplines and self-exclusion programmes come from the provincial regulator or the provincial gaming corporation, not from the venue and never from a listings site.
3. Dated announcements for changes. Where something has changed — an opening, a closure, a rebranding — we work from the dated announcement rather than from commentary about it.
4. Silence when sources disagree. If two credible sources give different numbers, we print neither and say why.

That last rule is the one that makes this guide shorter than its competitors and, we would argue, more useful. Confidence is cheap to fake and expensive to check.

Omissions

What this edition deliberately leaves out

These are facts a reader might reasonably expect to find here. Each was left out on purpose, because it could not be established well enough to print.

• The number of table games at the Albion Road casino — the venue publishes no count; trade press says 40 and a directory says 35.
• Parking rates at the Albion Road casino — the venue does not publish them.
• Which OC Transpo bus routes serve Albion Road — no route number could be confirmed.
• The number of slot machines at the Gatineau casino — two credible sources give different totals, so neither is printed anywhere on this site.
• The distance and drive time between downtown Ottawa and the Gatineau casino — no source gave an official figure.
• Quebec’s gambling regulator, helpline and self-exclusion programme — none of the three was verified for this edition, and Ontario’s cannot stand in.
• Whether a photograph is taken when someone enrols in Ontario’s self-exclusion programme — the operator’s pages could not be read.
• A dress code covering Ontario as a province — no such rule exists; codes are set venue by venue.
• Whether the eastern extension of O-Train Line 1 has opened — unconfirmed, so this guide describes the line as Tunney’s Pasture to Blair.

If you have an authoritative source for any of them — an operator page, a regulator document, something dated and checkable — we would genuinely like to see it.

Corrections

How to tell us we are wrong

Write to contact@ottawaplaystay.com, or use the contact form. The most useful correction names the page, quotes the sentence and points at a source we can check. Corrections that turn out to be right are made quickly and the page is re-dated; corrections we cannot verify are answered honestly rather than quietly ignored.

Everything on this site was reviewed on 4 September 2026. Opening hours, restaurant line-ups, ticketing arrangements and prices change without notice, and a guide is a snapshot, not a live feed. Confirm anything that would ruin your trip if it were wrong.
