Legal

Privacy notice

How Ottawa Play & Stay handles personal information, written to be consistent with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which governs private-sector organisations operating in Ontario. Last reviewed 4 September 2026.

Scope

Who this applies to

This notice covers Ottawa Play & Stay, published at ottawaplaystay.com. It does not cover the websites of the venues described in this guide. Following a link to a venue, an operator or a regulator takes you to an organisation with its own privacy practices, over which we have no control and no visibility.

What we collect

Information you give us, and nothing else

The only personal information this site collects is what you type into the contact form or put in an email to us: your name, your email address, the page you are writing about if you name one, and the content of your message. Providing it is entirely voluntary, and by submitting the form you consent to us using it to answer you.

Alongside a submitted message our host records ordinary technical data — the IP address the message came from, the country code the network resolves to, and the browser user-agent string — as a defence against automated abuse.

There is no advertising network on this site, no analytics service, no social media pixel, no embedded third-party content and no tracking cookie. The site sets no cookies of its own. Nothing you read here is logged against a profile of you, because no profile exists.

Why

Purpose, and the limits on it

Messages are used to reply to you, to correct the guide where you have told us it is wrong, and to keep a record of corrections so the same error is not reintroduced later. Technical data is used to filter spam. Those are the only purposes, and we do not use your information for any new purpose without asking you first.

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent, trade or share it with the venues described on this site, or with any marketing organisation. We would disclose information only where Canadian law required it of us.

Retention and security

How long, and how kept

Contact messages are held for up to one year and then deleted automatically. Data is stored on infrastructure protected by access controls and encryption in transit; no system is perfect, and we would rather say so than promise otherwise.

Our hosting provider operates a global network, so a message may be processed outside Canada and may therefore be subject to the laws of another country. This is disclosed here because PIPEDA expects transparency about cross-border processing.

Your rights

Access, correction, withdrawal

Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw your consent to our holding it at all. Write to privacy@ottawaplaystay.com. We will answer within 30 days. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees PIPEDA.

This site is a general-audience travel guide but it describes a regulated gambling venue, and it is not written for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the Ontario casino minimum age.
